Headache is a very common problem. Everybody might experience some kind of headache, which always results from another health condition. These types are "secondary headaches," ranging from a relatively harmless condition like the flu, sinusitis and impairment of vision to a serious condition such as tumour.

Migraines and tension types are "primary headaches," as they are not caused by an underlying health condition such as a tumour. Migraine headache is a recurrent, one-sided headache. Migraine is experienced as throbbing, severe headache associated with nausea and vomiting. Sometimes warning symptoms precedes it. Tension headaches are the most common type and usually characterized by a steady ache rather than the throbbing pain that is typical of migraines. They are mild and moderate, experienced on both sides, lasts for few hours.

What causes migraine?

A rapid widening and narrowing of blood vessel walls in the brain and head cause migraines. The fibres in the blood vessel wall become irritated and cause the pain. Blood vessels in the scalp are often involved in Migraines. Sometimes the throbbing pain of migraine is caused by an abnormal release of neuro chemicals in the brain such as serotonin or noradrenaline. Migraine sufferers might have born with a hypersensitive nervous system that makes them prone to headaches.

There are stimulations from the life-style or the environmental "trigger," such as a hormonal change or certain types of food or chemical can provoke an attack.

Life-style Factors

Few doses of Homoeopathic sweet pills will set right the paralysis and numbness. I had treated many forms of Bell's palsy of different causative factors with our excellent dynamic medicines. It is exciting to note certain things. I had treated a case of Paresis with cerebral atropy. The lesions in the brain made the 35 year old male victim to the involuntary slipping of lower jaw and jerkings. He was distressed with this and neurological consultations were proved vain. Finally he approached me. He continued his treatment for more than four years. Now he is all right. This uneventful cure had recommended many cases for other ailments.

Curative ratio for nervous complaints is higher than other systems of medicine. I had been successful even in the cases of post surgical damage being a cause.

Life-style Factors

  Stress and strain.
  Disrupted sleeping patterns.
  Irregular eating habits. Environmental Factors
Bright lights, flickering light sources and fluorescent lighting.
Air pollution such as passive smoking and dust.
  Weather changes.
  Dietary Factors.
  Alcoholic drinks.
Thyramine foods - aged cheese, sour creams and yohurt.
  Dried, smoked fish.
  Citrus fruits.

What are the common symptoms?

There are many forms of migraine headaches. The classic migraine and the common migraine are the two main types.

Classic Migraine

Most of the migraine sufferers experience visual and other disturbances for about 15 minutes before the headache. These symptoms, collectively known as "aura," may include flashing lights, zigzag lines, bright spots, loss of part of one's field of vision, or numbness or tingling in the hand, tongue or side of the face, weakness of an arm or leg, dizziness, unsteadiness in walking, drowsiness, slight confusion in thinking and inability to speak or slurred speech. Any given person may have only one or a few of these symptoms.

As these symptoms disappear, a throbbing headache begins on one side of the head and severity of the headache builds. Once the headache becomes intolerable, people often have nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and noise.

"I felt like being beaten up by a gang! It was nightmarish, when I looked back at it. I don't know if I can live through that again."

These are all the common descriptions from the sufferer.

A throbbing headache begins suddenly without warning of an attack. The location of the headache varies. The pain may be on both sides of the head, or it may shift from one side to another. Nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and noise usually accompany the headache. Children with migraine experience mostly common migraines and, therefore, do not have any warning. In addition to the headache, some children experience abdominal pain, which gets better after vomiting.

How can we prevent?

Prevention is a key aspect in the management of migraines:
1. Pay close attention to your diet
Eliminate all the dietary items which could trigger your attack in sequence. If hunger precipitates a migraine, eat frequent little meals on a regular basis. Women who have migraines just prior to their menstrual period should lower the salt in their diet. This helps to decrease water retention associated with precipitating attacks.

2. Life-style
If stress or emotional conflict triggers the onset of a migraine, it is important to find ways to reduce the stress in your life by doing regular exercises such as walking, driving, swimming and relaxation techniques. You can practice yoga and meditation.

3. Sleeping schedule
A regular schedule for sleep is necessary if fatigue precipitates attacks. Fatigue may become exaggerated in times of weather change.

How to treat?

It is true that whatever precaution you take to prevent a Migraine attack, you cannot find remedy as a permanent one. The cure, which gives wonderful results by the modern medicines, also requires more dosage and offers temporary relief. Then, how to get rid of these problems? Consult a qualified Homoeopathic practitioner.

Homoeopathy is the only suitable treatment to bring a real cure. I had envied the cure in many patients. Many patients were relieved of their pain with a single prescription itself; some times it requires the second one. If the symptoms similarity corresponds with the patient's illness the similar affect will alleviate the illness at the earliest. I had enjoyed such wonderful cures in my practice. I had treated many cases and they showed no recurrence.

Homoeopathy medicines have wonderful affinity to the nervous system. This is the reason why homoeopaths are succeeding in the treatment of a Trigeminal neuralgia, sciatica and epilepsy. The dietary regulations are secondary to our treatment. Once the victim had got rid of his illness, he has No Problem!
